MELT
they drove through golden skies,
top down, pausing
by the roadside
for breath. between
milky leather seats
they whispered sweet nothings:
of late nights and early mornings,
silence and sleep,
forever summers and phosphene,
blissfully blind
as limb
by limb they intertwined,
by limb they intertwined,
and drowned beside
one another.

'melt' is a poem that I wrote in 2014. It was part of a much wider project that I undertook during my creative writing undergraduate degree and was later published in the third issue of litmag Severine Lit which you can view online. If you liked this, why not read some more of my creative writing?
This is beautiful! ❤️

I absolutely love this, especially the first verse! Reminds me so much of all the camping trips my partner and I took when we first met. :)
