Books, Dreams, Music and Being Happy Q & A

q and a vivatramp uk lifestyle book blog

Oh, hai! I've just got back from my little break away in Scotland so I thought I'd chill out, pop on some music and answer these questions that I found in my drafts folder. Kudos if you actually remember asking these questions - it has been a while since they were asked. I am a top class blogger, I know. I thought I'd share some photographs that I took of Woody on one of our many walks through the meadow alongside the questions because he is just absolutely adorable. Enjoy!

Today, I thought I would use my blogging powers for good and share some useful information on how to create a bee-friendly garden with a little garden tour included to boot. It's hugely important to welcome bees and such into your garden because, as we all know, they're suffering and that ain't good!

How To Read More

As you already know, I really like to read and review books on Vivatramp. However, reviewing books on the internet comes with great responsibility and I often get messages from people who have fallen out of love with reading that want to know how I keep on top of it all and how I became a certified…

On My Shelf 3

It's that time of the month again where I give you a further peek around my bookshelves. Every month, you guys give me numbers that coincide with a book on my shelf. I scour my shelves for the number and then explain a little bit about the book in question. Understand? I swear to God, one day I will be able to eloquently define things for you. Until then, we'll muddle through. Lets see what's on my shelf this month...

Toru is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before. Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable. As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman.

I own three Murakami books and I've yet to read any of them. Yikes! In my defence, they were like 50p each at the charity shop and I've always wanted to try a bit of Murakami so I thought it was a great deal. Nearly all of my Goodreads friends have given this book a 5* rating so I've got really high hopes for Norwegian Wood, despite the fact that it's not something I'd go for based on the blurb alone. Lets just hope I like it as much as everyone else seems to! If I do end up liking it, I'm going to invest in the really colourful Murakami editions because I think they're beautiful.

12 Arcade Fire Songs You Should Listen To

12 arcade fire songs to listen to music lifestyle book blog uk vivatramp

After my very public Twitter outpouring of all the feels over Arcade Fire's performance at Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was about time I blogged about my love for them. I'm going to be sharing a selection of my favourite tracks with you before looking at them within both their personal and wider musical context. This isn't a definitive list. I keep going back to swap songs around because there are so many more that I'd love to mention but I'm just going to leave it as it is. Arcade Fire split people's opinions, I know, but their music is something I can connect with and take comfort from and I think that's something that all music-listeners can respect. This post won't be for everyone but, like I said in this tweet, you lot don't want me to sit here and tell you about things that I don't particularly care for so sod it! People often ask me how I can stay so positive in the face of really shitty things and the answer can be found in a lot of these songs for me so stick around, eh?! I've included all the live Glasto links alongside the album versions of the songs because, in my opinion, they deserve to be heard live too! Enjoy.

I have been wrecking again but, thankfully, this time I've been wrecking something other than my life. I'm kidding. I'm getting kind of good at this life thing. This month's pages have all been about colour, spontaneity and patterns and I have to say I'm pretty happy with them. Let me know what you would have done with these prompts in the comments below. Time to get creative and have a peek at my latest Wreck This Journal pages...

Sit back and relax whilst I show you the books that I bought from a couple of independent bookstores in Bristol yest…

Sup fellow planet dwellers. I am celebrating my twenty second birthday today! I'd just like to say a big well done to me for lasting so long and thank you very much to everyone that has got me to this age. You're good eggs. In celebration of my 22nd year, I thought I'd share some awkward photographs of myself. Huzzah! I've decided to tackle summer dressing for people who just want to wake up, throw something on and get out into the sunshine. My idea of summer dressing is low maintenance and chilled. I'm not one for fussy styling, often preferring to pop on a print and let it do the talking. My go-to summer outfits often just consist of one piece dressed up with a pair of sandals and my trusty backpack. I think I'd like to be one of those people that does a bit more with my look but I'm happy for now.
