For over ten years now, my Sundays have been dedicated to venturing around Somerset with my Dad. Yesterday was no exception! We wanted to go for lunch somewhere we hadn't eaten before so we headed out to the local cider farm for a change of scenery and a huge plate of carvery. Carverys are biblical, I swear. It was a bloody splendid decision because, within minutes of arriving, we ended up tucking into huge plates swimming in gravy. If it's not drowned in gravy, I don't wanna know!

Despite being nearly a year post-op, I'm still not able to eat fibre which is stupidly annoying but, as you can see, I make up for it with roast potatoes. Oh, yes! With bloated little bellies, we had a walk around the grounds and educated ourselves on the historical art of cider making. I was quite the cider drinker in my youth, let me tell you! Nowadays, I'm totally tee-total.

After learning more about the improper use of possessive apostrophes than cider making, we popped next door to the shop to look at all the cider on offer. I think I got a little drunk just from the potent smell....

After an hour or so of fun on the farm, we headed out for a quick stroll along the seafront swiftly followed by a nap at home for my fine self. It was a quiet day but a pretty nice one at that.

What an awesome tradition! I would love to spend every Sunday with my dad, if only we didn't live so far apart!
ReplyDeletePlus that carvery looks INCREDIBLE!

I've heard good things about this Cider farm, definitely need to check it out!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely place to go. Will you hate me if I admit the thought of gravy makes me want to be sick?

Looks like a freakin epic roast, love that you have a tradition as well. My 'traditions' have altered so much with differing phases of my life and there are some I have to admit, I really miss from living with my parents too.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well queried its- sorry to hear fibre is still off the menu.

A day of carvery and cider. What could be better?! My Sundays are dedicated to hanging out with Granny Chai, helping with the gardening (an unlikely picture I know) and cuddles with my baby cousin. Bliss.
ReplyDeleteRoasts swimming in gravy - the way it should be! ;) xxx
