For those that know me well enough, you'll know that I went to extreme lengths as a child to exhaust my Wind in the Willows VHS; You will also know that I forced my Grandma to play my Wind in the Willows board game with me on a bi-weekly basis. If you're as
I cannot really put into words how much I have fallen in love with this book, from the quality of the paper to the stunning illustrations. Furthermore, the story is just absolutely timeless; I still find myself being scared half to death at the prospect of venturing into 'The Wild Wood'. The Wind in the Willows is one of those novels that just captures the imagination like no other and you'll soon find yourself in a love/hate relationship with Mr Toad. I can imagine this book making the ideal gift for so many: sentimental grandparents, expectant Mama's and Papa's, bookworms like myself. I was also lucky enough to be sent 'Writing Britain: Wastelands to Wonderlands', a book that explores the relationships between writers and landscapes. It's one of those books that you can peruse at your own leisure, dipping in and out of when you have a spare ten minutes. I've found that it's best accompanied by a tall drink and a pack of biscuits! I'm very lucky indeed.
If you don't mind, I'm going to go and read The Wind in the Willows from start to finish and weep at the fact that I am in my twenties and will never truly experience childhood ever again. What were some of your favourite books as a child? Do you sometimes give them a re-read? Even if you aren't a fan of this particular book, I urge you to head to the website regardless because they have soooo many other books to offer! I want one of each, thanks!
Altogether now, 'The mole had been working very hard all morning....' ♥
