Photo an Hour: A Quiet Sunday

On Sunday 27th September 2015, unbeknownst to you, I decided to share my day with you. Here's a little photo diary of what I got up to -- this time you can expect Sunday laziness, animals and some sunshine.

10AM - WAKE UP
I woke up around half 9 which, for me, is pretty early for a Sunday.  It wasn't exactly a carpe-frigging-diem sort of wake up, it was more of a gaze-out-the-window-and-attempt-to-move-a-few-limbs-in-tandem sort of wake up, but it was nice and Sunday appropriate. The cottage has low windows, meaning  you can lie in bed and watch the world go by.

11am - tea & biscuit breakfast
Biscuit breakfasts are few and far between the older I get but Luke decided to make a pot of tea so I went along with it. Shout out to Grandma for always supplying Luke and I with boxes of biscuits throughout the year - you keep the dream alive. I had intended to start this book. However, due to distractions, I didn't get further than the first page!

12pm - lunch
Lunch time wouldn't be lunch time without Woody sitting quietly in wait in hope of scraps. I'm not sure whether he was yawning or doing an impression of a Hungry Hippo. Dad jokes are my thing, if you haven't already guessed. Lunch was an unphotogenic ham sandwich.

1pm - chickens
I sat and had a chat with the chickens for a while before the dogs got wildly jealous. The girls are doing really well and laying lots and lots of eggs each day which surprised us no end because they aren't meant to lay straight away following a move! They've also started growing their feathers back which is just as well because they've all got bare bums - not ideal in the cold spell we've been having of late.

2pm - blogging
I got to work finishing off my September book haul post. I used to take photographs, write copy and publish in one day but nowadays I like to allow myself a bit more time to get everything sorted. I'm not sure that there is any real formula when it comes to blog organisation - I think you just have to work yourself into a routine that suits you and go from there.  My September book haul will be up at 10am on Wednesday.

3pm - spray painting
Luke has been spending the majority of his free time working on PGCE stuff lately so I'm glad he took a little bit of time out at the weekend to spray paint some models and do some actual painting. He has been working through Science and Maths audits lately, and they've made me realise just how little I know and understand about those two subjects.

4pm - important meeting with woody
Woody and I are pretty inseparable and yesterday he was pretty set on playing tug of war with an old sock. Woody is the keeper of socks. He will make it his job to track them down and claim them for his own. Shout out to my typical Sunday uniform of an oversized shirt and leggings, aka your-mum-in-the-nineties-chic.

5pm - video games & planning
Luke played The Witcher 3 for a while whilst I edited this post and skimmed my blog schedule for the rest of the year. I find planning and scrawling down ideas incredibly therapeutic, particularly when I'm not feeling too well. It's something that I can focus on, make mine and fine tune, and that's probably why I'm still at this five years down the line.

6pm - fire
The wood was removed swiftly after I took this photograph - don't worry!  It's starting to get really cold in the evenings here in the West Country so we decided to pop the wood burner on for the first time this year. Doesn't it just make you want to read a good book beside it?! Autumnal cliché, I know, but they're clichés for a reason pals! It heated the entire cottage to the point where, hours later, I requested that the window be opened in our bedroom because it was just ridiculous!

7pm / 8pm - dinner time
On the menu today was roast pork followed by apple pie for everyone else. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to eat fibre for around two years due to my major surgery so roast dinners tend to just consist of meat and potatoes (the one vegetable my body can cope with) aka the best bits anyway!

vivatramp top lifestyle blogs uk penny dreadful

9pm / 10pm - penny dreadful
We decided to catch up on Penny Dreadful season two and managed to watch episodes three and four before bed. I'm not an overly squeamish person. I can watch scary things and not feel too upset by them. However, for some reason, Penny Dreadful terrifies me. Maybe it's the supernatural elements, I don't know ?! The acting is superb, sure, but I've decided to bow out of watching it further simply because it unsettles me too much and the plot confuses me at times. Have any of you seen it?

and then, sleep...

This was a very quiet Sunday for me, as usually I'm out with my Dad in the day time, but it was nice to go at a slower pace after my hectic graduation on the 25th. Thanks for all your messages r:e my last photo an hour post - I think it's a series I'll continue with because there's something interesting in the mundane and I want to get back to my personal lifestyle roots. Are there any other non-bookish things that you'd really like to see over here?

If you'd like to scroll through all of my adventures then you can do so.

  2. I love this type of post - I'm a nosey bugger so it's fun for me to see what other people get up to day-to-day.

I am so jealous of your wood burner by the way - I only bought my flat last year and I've already decided that when I move to a house I want a wood burner or fireplace! I've fallen for the romantic cliché of a crackling fire on cold nights.
