How To Dress For Summer

Sup fellow planet dwellers. I am celebrating my twenty second birthday today! I'd just like to say a big well done to me for lasting so long and thank you very much to everyone that has got me to this age. You're good eggs. In celebration of my 22nd year, I thought I'd share some awkward photographs of myself. Huzzah! I've decided to tackle summer dressing for people who just want to wake up, throw something on and get out into the sunshine. My idea of summer dressing is low maintenance and chilled. I'm not one for fussy styling, often preferring to pop on a print and let it do the talking. My go-to summer outfits often just consist of one piece dressed up with a pair of sandals and my trusty backpack. I think I'd like to be one of those people that does a bit more with my look but I'm happy for now.

I picked up this dress up from a charity shop in Reading when I went to visit my Grandma and I'm so glad I did because it's so easy to wear and ridiculously flattering. It's definitely one of my go-to pieces. I just love the print, the colours and the cut. I also wouldn't be able to do summer without my sweet prescription sunnies from London Retro*. I'm a little goth mole and I can't bear the light so these are an absolute godsend. They're so clear, easy to clean and a really great shape.  I took them to Zante with me, as you can see from my disposables, and they were absolutely perfect. There was a little bit of a mix up with the frames but the customer service staff were so helpful and the return process was incredibly easy. Kudos! I've actually got these glasses in normal lenses too - I'm a bit of a creature of habit but if something ain't broke don't try to fix it

As you can probably tell, I still haven't mastered the fashion blogger outfit post stance yet but I think it's more fun that way. Sometimes you just want to look at awkward poses, poor posture and 4 day old hair and that's perfectly okay! You may remember that I lost quite a bit of my hair last summer due to a really shitty drug treatment and I spent quite a while rocking a bald patch. My hair is now growing back and it's going quite well - it's quite cool to see how much it has grown since my last outfit post six months ago. It's got a long way to go but it'll get there. I'm at peace with it and that's all that matters.

Unforunately, as I bought this from a charity shop it is a bit older and is no longer in stock. However, I've found a few similar high necked paisley dresses that are affordable and just as pretty! Treat yo'self

What's your go-to summer outfit? What do you think of mine? I'm off on a birthday adventure to Bristol. Have a lovely rest of the week!

  1. I have this dress from primark, it's my go to interview dress when I want something smart but interesting. It's a little restricting around the arms for me but other than that it's perfect. I'm in a bit of a funk with summer styling this year, I go onto the high street and just feel like everything looks the same right now so I don't really have a go to summer outfit.
Happy birthday and hope you have a lovely day :) xx

  2. I like shorts and playsuits for those really hot summer days when you're off to the beach or whatever.

  4. That's the way to do it!! I'm a fellow fan of no fuss dressing, when it comes to the hotter seasons This dress is gorgeous! Really lovely little number and just the right length to bare a little leg (I wish I had the pins to go shorter!).

Happy birthday, peach! Hope you have a wonderful day : )

easy summer dressing is the best for sure, i´ve also got a few dresses in my closet to turn to when I don´t want to to think about what to wear.

  11. Happy (belated) birthday - better late than never, right? :-P
A dress is a great throw on item for summer days. Personally, I opt for some printed shorts - just feel more comfortable - but prints are definitely the way to go in summer, or at least that's what I think.
Also, I'm wishing my hair looked like that after 4 days. Haha!

  12. I'm exactly the same with summer outfits - anything more complex than a dress and shoes makes me completely flustered!! I hope you had a wonderful Birthday and Bristol trip :)

(PS: Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment! It was so sweet of you to give me some reading tips - I've been trying them and have found that I'm reading a lot more often already! It's rad!)

  13. I´ve always felt unconfortable with wearing dresses. Last summer I bought one simple dress and I only wore it once. I guess it must have to do with feeling embarrased of my female side? I´m not sure. I´m working on it tho, because I do know that they are more confortable than wearing pants and a t-shirt in the middle of a heat wave!

This dress is so lovely. I love the pattern and the shape. It looks so confy! :)

I hope you have a great sunny day Bee! <3
