London & The Penguin Blogger Event

Last Wednesday, Lyzi and I packed our backpacks and headed to London for the #penguinbloggerdo at Foyles' Charing Cross store where we had an absolute whale of a time. After arriving in London, we located our super cheap hostel, Clink78, before heading out to Covent Garden for food. With bellies full of Shake Shack burgers, we stumbled into The Gallery where we were welcomed by tables of books and tote bags for us to peruse and take at our leisure. As you can imagine, it felt way too good to be true but also rather bloody brilliant! After picking some books, we settled down and had conversations with fellow bloggers, as well as some vloggers and authors. I have to say, it was pretty awesome to go to an event full of like-minded bookish people! After nattering for a while, we sat and listened to the Penguin authors read from their upcoming releases accompanied by a pianist playing such delights as the Jaws theme tune and Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).  I picked up the following books that I'm really looking forward to reading...

I had such a good time in London, from laughing about experimental granite salads with Lyzi to meeting Leena from justkissmyfrog who is just as awesome in real life. After the event, we headed back to our hostel for a hilarious chat with a New Zealander who is travelling around the world by herself which was pretty inspiring. However, it wasn't long before our heads hit the pillow and we awoke to a boiling hot Thursday morning. After a quick breakfast, we trailed around the Natural History Museum looking at crystals and dead things, before walking across the road to the V & A for a lunch that consisted of cake and a nose around the gift shop. Before long, it was home time. I think this little adventure was just what I needed this month! I didn't take many photographs whilst I was in London because I'm the worst blogger in the world, but here's a few that I did manage to snap:

I had an awesome time but it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without my Lyzi from Being Quite Small. My little kindred spirit. Thanks, boo!
