A Little Life Update & A New Addition To The Family

woody no editIMG_1300IMG_1274

Hello everyone! Since it's a drizzly grey August day, I thought I'd turn on my laptop and update you all on my current doings. If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you'll know that I'm currently at Luke's house puppy sitting the family's new addition, Woody. He's a beautiful black labrador with a penchant for tormenting slugs, attempting to chew anything in sight (wires, my iPhone, my favourite cardigan and sandals being his favourites) and waking up at the crack of dawn. He's extremely lucky that he is heartbreakingly gorgeous because it makes it difficult to stay infuriated with him for long! As you can imagine, puppy sitting takes up a lot of man hours so that probably explains why I've been quiet here at Viva for a few days! Anyone got any puppy advice/tips they think they should share with me? Feel free to leave it below. I'm going to be chilling out here for the next few days, watching the world go by and appreciating the silence of the countryside.

In other news, my health has been taking a little bit of a knock recently so I'm now taking even more tablets to try and stabilise it all. I'm pretty sure that people will soon be able to hear me rattling along before I actually come in to view. I do have to say a little shout out to the poor doctor who had to deal with me bawling my eyes out in his presence! He coped extremely well and soon the conversation turned to the Famous Five and our mutual fear of Uncle Quentin! I just take each day as it comes where my health is concerned - good days are often followed by 'oh god I can't move I'm in so much pain' days so it's difficult to really make plans, as such. Having said that, some of my closest friends from the old Sixth Form days are coming round this coming weekend for takeaway food, a movie and a chance to meet the little puppy so I'm pretty excited for that! Everyone seems to be growing up so much these days: announcements of engagements, babies birthdays and house moves are all commonplace on my Facebook feed of late. Does anyone else ever think 'Uh oh, time to get my shit together?!'.

Once everything has settled a little, I'll be sure to post some interesting things over here on Viva! Anyway, I'm going to leave this little update here because Woody is currently dragging my laptop bag off to his lair. If you'd like regular updates from me then please feel free to follow me on Twitter and Instagram - it's a lot easier to send a small tweet than to blog when my eyes are always on the pup! I'm off to do a little more puppy sitting and do some serious blog reading - leave me some of your links in the comments if you'd like!

    1. Thank you! I know people don't really like text-heavy posts but hey ho!

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing it and thank you very much for being so kind.

  2. Oh my gosh he is so gorgeous! I am desperate for a puppy - everyone else may be announcing pregnancies but I am broody for a beagle!

Also Uncle Quentin is terrifying! Sometimes more so than the bad guys! xxx

    1. Thank you! I think he's one of the most beautiful things to walk this earth ;) Ooh, beagles are so cute - get one!

I'm glad you agree about Uncle Quentin - he was so ominous in his study.

  4. Woody's absolutely adorable! I loved Labradors and Golden Retrievers, in equal measure, so very much when I was younger. But, I think I'm more of a West Highland Terrier sort of girl now - too many Ceaser dog food adverts, I think!
I'm so sorry to hear that your condition's worsening. I think what's best is to take all those "good days" and make them into great days by filling them with the activities and people you love. So, when the "oh god I can't move I'm in so much pain" days come rolling by - completely uninvited - you, at least, don't have to feel like you've missed out on doing the things you enjoyed when you were able to.

    Best Wishes,

    Tara

  5. Woody is such a cutey, I can see why you can forgive him for chewing almost anything, just thrown some toys his way instead, but if he's anything like the dogs I know, he's much more likely to prefer chewing real human things (: haha. I hope you don't have to rattle around much longer and that this little dip is followed by a lift very soon, although I too share a fear of Uncle Quentin, I mean the guy just spent all his time in the study and shouting, pretty scary. Anddddd (haha) I completely sympathise with wondering what the heck everyone around me is doing getting married and having kids at twenty, I'm constantly feeling like maybe I should have just skipped uni and had a baby first to keep up haha (: xxx

  8. Awh he's adorable! The only thing Alfie has ever really chewed is his own toys and thus destroyed them all. I just tell him to pack it in and get to bed. Five minutes is very long in puppy land, much like with babies I guess! I think puppies are a bit like toddlers, requiring your attention 24/7. They also like cheese. I'm also sorry to hear about your health, and I hope things get better soon. Your doctor sounds a whole lot better than mine though! He tries to blame everything on non-existent bullying and non-existent constipation - even migraines...
Anyhoo, I shall leave you with that lovely thought

  9. AWhh those eyes! I have the exact same problems with my kitten (bar the slugs as she is an indoor cat), she wakes me up at 5am on the dot daily for stroking! It means im knackered all the time but i just cant help but love her! As for illness up and down, hard to plan; I again have the exact same problem! One day unable to do anything at all for days at a time then another day itll b better, it's quite frustrating trying to have a social life, I think people get a bit fed up! I had to miss a friend's wedding because I was so unwell and she hasn't spoken to me since :-( xx

  10. Woody is absolutely gorgeous - puppy sitting isn't too bad a job to have. I really hope your health improves - it must be such a hassle not knowing how you're going to feel. If you fancy having a read of my blog it's rococ0.blogspot.com

  12. Eugh, Crohn's sucks balls. I hope you start feeling better soon, it's such a shame it's so variable day to day. This post is definitely making me even more jealous of you for the puppy though, he looks so like my ex boyfriend's dog as a puppy and it's making me very nostalgic! All I can say is start early with making him behave. Labs learn bad habits (and good ones) quickly! Food is probably something that works basically every time. Just lots of stimulation to tire him out (I spent a lot of time in the garden with a feather duster when the puppy got fidgety). Oh and if he's bad/too nippy or anything, we found it worked to put him in a room by himself as a 'punishment' to make him realise if he doesn't play nice, he doesn't get to play. Though if Luke's family have a particular plan, just stick to that! :) xxx

  14. Oh my gosh, Woody is adorable! Bet it's impossible to be mad with him! Bodhi torments slugs and snails too, in the sense that he brings them indoors and chomps on them! A really nice surprise to see a half eaten snail in your hallway as you can imagine! Really sorry to hear your health has not been so great lately and hope you feel better soon, I prescribe lots of taking it easy and puppy hugs! Sending love your way.X

Hope things are improving health wise, I know the feeling here, on a bit of a rollercoaster myself again and having NHS Rage today after a visit to the hospital.... JOY.

    HUGS!
